One of the most coveted defence examinations in the nation, the NDA exam is conducted to choose applicants for admission to the National Defence Academy. To choose qualified male and female candidates, the exam is conducted twice a year. Both an SSB interview and a written exam are part of the NDA exam selection process.
Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra, India is home to the National Defence Academy (NDA). It is the first tri-color academy to train cadets for the Army, Navy, and Air Forces who are both male and female. Upon graduation from the NDA, candidates receive training at the Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy, or Indian Military Academy, depending on their service academy.
The NDA gives its cadets extensive training to get them ready for the demands of the armed forces. Academic instruction, physical fitness, and leadership development are all part of the training. The cadets receive physical training to improve their strength and endurance in addition to a demanding curriculum covering a wide range of subjects.
To be eligible for the exam, candidates must meet the following NDA eligibility requirements:
Male and female candidates must have been born between July 2, 2005, and July 1, 2008, in order to sit for the NDA 1 exam. Only single candidates who were born between January 2, 2006, and January 1, 2009, are eligible to take the NDA 2 exam.
The NDA age limit is the same for male and female candidates. Applicants for the exam may be female candidates who are single and born between July 2, 2005, and July 1, 2008. To fulfill their duties, candidates need to be in good physical condition.
The exam is only open to single male and female candidates.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2021 that females could enrol in the National Defence Academy. Last year, the first group of female candidates took the NDA 2 exam.
Various academies have different requirements for education. Applicants can review the minimum educational requirements listed below for each academy.

Educational Qualification |
Army Wing of National Defence Academy | Passed Class 12/HSC or equivalent from a recognised board or university |
Air Force, Navy, and Naval Academy of National Defence Academy | Passed Class 12/HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics |
The written exam and the SSB interview comprise the NDA exam format. The written exam consists of two papers, the General Ability Test (GAT) and Mathematics, per the exam pattern. There are 900 possible points for the written exam. Applicants are invited to the SSB Interview if they receive the required minimum number of points in the written exam. There are 900 marks for the SSB interview. The NDA exam pattern’s structure is provided below.

NDA Negative Marking |
GAT | 4 | 1.33 |
Mathematics | 2.5 | 0.83 |
The first paper’s NDA syllabus includes topics and subtopics related to math. There are 120 questions covering Class 10, 11, and 12 standards on this paper. Candidates receive 2.5 marks for each right response, and each wrong answer results in a 0.83 mark deduction.
The two main sections of the NDA syllabus are the General Ability Test (GAT) and Mathematics. There will be 150 questions in the GAT question paper overall, with 120 questions in the mathematics section. Candidates will have 2 ½ hours to complete each section. Candidates can review the syllabus below as they get ready for the NDA exam.
The subjects that candidates have studied in Class 12 are included in the NDA Mathematics syllabus. There are 300 total points available for this section. In essence, this section assesses a candidate’s mathematical abilities. The following is the NDA mathematics syllabus:
Class 11 and 12 level NDA question papers are the norm for the mathematics section. By consulting the NCERT textbooks for Classes 11 and 12, candidates can clarify their mathematical concepts. The candidate’s ability to calculate is tested in this section. Please let us know the NDA Mathematics syllabus by topic.
